A Growing Relationship
An update from the village of Nobi
January 19, 2001

Nobi is a village that has been on our prayer list for almost 5 years. As we are now seeing the fruit of many prayers, we recognize that now more than ever we must join together in praying for this important village.

While we were praying for an opening into this community, God used a friendship between the king of Nobi and a couple of doctors at Galmi hospital to open the door. Joshua Bogunjoko and Kendrick Lau began visiting the village on a regular basis and established a relationship with these Tamajaq people. They visited and showed the Jesus film on several occasions.

Joshua invited Mike and I to visit as well. We were impressed with their warmth and openness. Mike and I had the opportunity to work on a history booklet of this village in the Tamajaq language and the relationship continued to grow.

Since leaving the field last March, one of SIM's development projects under the direction of Jeannie Hofer has begun a program of health teaching in Nobi. The village's openness to this teaching demonstrated an even deeper level of trust.

On January 16, 2001, Mike has had opportunity to take the relationship to the next level. He began teaching a series from the first three chapters of Genesis. Mike writes,

"Many here believe that sickness and suffering are the will of God and it is their place to just patiently accept what comes as God's will. My lessons will try to show God's wonderful creation and how it was only because of sin that suffering entered the world."

Mike asks for prayer:

That Mike would have the language ability to communicate these truths clearly (Col. 4:3-4).

That the message would be clear and that it would encourage them that they can improve their lives by following the health teaching.

That the Spirit would convince them of these truths and that they would be ready to receive God’s solution for sin.
