Recent Good Books I have Read

Respectable Sins - Jerry Bridges
This book really challenged me.  We often pride ourselves on all the sins we don't struggle with.  And yet we allow subtle sins like pride, judgmental attitude and living like God doesn't matter to go unchecked in our lives.  These sins rob us of our joy and victory in Christ.

More Than Meets the Eye - Richard Swenson.

This is an excellent book for seeing the wonder and majesty in the physical world around you. Dr. Swenson is an MD as well as a physicist. This is great to read parts to your kids.

The Reflective Life - Ken Gire

This book is about practicing the presence of Christ in everyday life.  This is a book rereading.

Total Truth - Nancy Pearcey
Best book I have read on the Christian worldview.  It traces thoughts and movements as they developed over time.  This is not a hard book to read.
Prayer - Philip Yancey
This is my new favorite Yancey book.  This book challenged and inspired me to devote myself anew to prayer.  It also challenged me to see that God desires a relationship, not simply a transaction of devotion for blessing.
Leading With Nothing to Lose - Simon P Walker
This is one of the most intriguing books on leadership that I have read in a long time.  It is part of the Undefended Leader series.  This book challenges us to find our most impact when we are willing to lay down our power and trust God to defend us.
