Madaoua's Most Wanted List

This is the list of Tamajaq men and their families that we have been praying for in the Madaoua area.  Many have been featured in our Breaking Through email updates but people have been asking for the entire list.  The names have been changed.

Hama:
Hama is a principal of an elementary school with a lot of integrity.  He stood up to corruption in the public schools and almost lost his job over it.  He visited our home several times a week and enjoys discussions about the Bible and faith.
Hama is our best friend among the Tamajaq people.  We have shared with him so many different experiences in so many different contexts.  One of the happiest days of our ministry will be when he and his family share the joy of salvation in Jesus Christ.

Al:
Al has been on our prayer list for a long time. He is our friend who watches over our sheep and over Mike's goats. He is also the one who fed me sheep eyes one year on the Muslim feast. He is a good friend and we have spent a lot of time with him and his family. We have had over the years the opportunity to read Scripture together and to talk about important spiritual matters.  A couple of years ago, Al made a wrong choice. He decided to take a second wife which is uncharacteristic of Tamajaq people. His first wife could not abide another woman in her household and left Al. Al has never really seemed himself since. See update from July 8, 2000

Bil:
Bil is a good friend.  Mike spent a lot of time with him last year, teaching him to read.  He is a very hard worker and honest.  He has heard the Gospel many times.  He is also a cousin to Lee (the Christian Tamajaq Pastor).  Earlier this year he took a second wife because his first wife could not bear healthy children. Bil accepted Christ this year after much prayer and internal struggle.  He needs much prayer now as he faces the consequences of his decision to follow Christ. (Updated July 19, 2005)

Praise the Lord - Bil is a believer! [Details]

Allen:
Mike and I have both worked with Allen in our language study.  He is a Tamajaq man with very good English.  He also helped a lot with the writing of the history booklets.  Mike said at one point he seemed very close to making a decision for Christ.  He is almost crushed by the fear of what other people think of him.  He fears being ostracized.  One day in our language study I had written a Bible story from the life of Christ.  He said, "Stop right there.  You can write about the Old Testament and the life of Jesus but you must stop before the cross.  It offends me."  I encouraged him to seek the truth and not fear what others think.  He stood firm that he didn't want to hear about the cross of Christ.  Pray that barrier of fear that separates him from the Lord will be removed.

Adam:
Adam is the nephew of a Muslim holy man who makes charms to ward off evil spirits.  He is very polite and respectful.  Mike makes a point of visiting his camp regularly.  Adam also enjoys reading the Scriptures together with us and is not afraid to engage in discussion.  His wife recently had a miscarriage after waiting for a child for 5 years.  They live in a village near Madaoua. Pray for a break through in this entire family.

Monday:
Monday is the younger brother to Lee.  He reads quite well and has spent long hours with Mike reading through Genesis, Mark, Luke and Jonah in Tamajaq.  He professes faith but seems to have one foot still in the world.  He wants to get married very badly and wants to marry a non-Christian wife.  Pray that the seeds that have been planted in his heart will take root and he will truly find Christ.  Pray that the Lord will protect him from the entanglements of the world that would make it hard for him to give his life to the Lord.
